How To Take Proper Care Of Your Scaffolding Equipment

Whether you own scaffolding equipment for your business or for personal use, you will want to make sure that you are doing everything you can to keep it in the best shape. After all, it is not usually inexpensive to replace damaged scaffolding, especially if you need to replace it immediately in order to complete the work that you are trying to get done. Therefore, you will want to make use of these tips:

Try Not To Dismantle It Too Often

While there will be times in which you will need to dismantle the scaffolding, such as when you need to haul it to a new location, you will want to try to refrain from doing it more often than you have to. For example, even if you need to move the scaffolding to the other side of the house, it is better to get a few people to help you move it in one piece than to dismantle it and then set it up again. The more often you dismantle it, the more wear and tear the bolts and attachments are going through. Also, you are more likely to lose a small piece or two.

Always Keep It On Level Ground

It is vital for you to make sure that your scaffolding equipment is kept on level ground. If it is not kept on level ground, you will find that anyone who stands on it will be at risk for falling. Depending on the height of the scaffolding, that individual could become severely injured. Also, when you have someone putting all of their weight on the scaffolding platform while it is on uneven ground, they could cause some of the bars to bend from the pressure of the uneven setup. When the bars are bent, the entire scaffolding setup is no longer secure enough to work with.

Conduct Daily Inspections

By inspecting the erect scaffolding setup every day before use, you will not only ensure that everyone will be safe, but you will not have to worry about the equipment becoming further damaged, which could then cost you a lot of money to repair or replace. Should you find that there is a bolt missing, you can add a new one. If the scaffolding had been moved in an unsafe position, you will be able to adjust it before it is used.

Cover When Not In Use

If there will be an extended period of time when the scaffolding equipment will not be in use, you will want to cover it with tarps so it is protected from harsh weather that could cause it to become rusted.

With those tips in mind, you should find that you will be able to take proper care of your scaffolding, like the kind you can get from Savage Scaffold & Equipment Co., while keeping everyone safe.
